Why is it that Americans all seem innately incapable of referring to the UK as the UK? In my Introduction to Government lecture this morning, some woman (“Hiiii guys. I’m Maaarie, and I’m from Texaaaas.”) decided that she wanted to speak with us about some volunteering opportunities that were coming up soon.
She said that the organisation running the programme would be selecting 40 students from this University to “represent England.”

Thank God our lecturer, though English, is sensitive towards national identity. In front of our whole lecture theatre, he interrupted her and asked, “England?” Her response, naturally, was “Yup.” His response: “We’re in Wales.” By God did she look confused.
“Oh yah, Waayles.”
Jeez lady, you obviously live here. Gerra grip!
